To get to us, to the village of Almyrida, first, you have to travel to Chania, Crete.
By Air
The primary airport serving the region is Chania International Airport “Ioannis Daskalogiannis” (CHQ). It is located about 14 kilometers east of Chania city center. Chania Airport is well-connected to various domestic and international destinations. Some airlines that operate flights to Chania include Aegean Airlines, Ryanair, easyJet, and Olympic Air.
You might also want to consider one of the other airports on the island:
Heraklion International Airport “Nikos Kazantzakis” (HER) is located in Heraklion, and is the busiest airport on the island. It also serves as a major gateway for international and domestic flights and is approximately 5 kilometers east of Heraklion city center and about 140 kms/88 miles (~1.5 to 2 hrs driving) from the town of Chania.
Sitia Public Airport (JSH) is the smallest airport and is situated in the eastern part of Crete, near the town of Sitia. While it is a smaller airport compared to Heraklion and Chania, it still serves domestic flights and occasional seasonal international flights. Sitia Airport is approximately 1.5 kilometers west of Sitia town and about 200 kms/124 miles (~3 to 3.5 hrs driving) from the town of Chania.
If you prefer a scenic journey, you can take a ferry to Crete. Ferries operate from various Greek mainland ports, such as Piraeus (Athens) and Rafina, to the ports of Souda (Chania). The ferry journey duration varies depending on the route and the type of ferry.
You might also want to consider one of the other ports on the island such as Heraklion, Sitia, Rethymno etc.

By Bus
If you are already in Crete or prefer an affordable option, you can take a bus to Chania. There are bus services connecting Chania with other cities and towns in Crete. The main bus station in Chania is the “KTEL” (ΚΤΕΛ in Greek) station, and you can check the bus schedules and fares online or at the station.

If you enjoy road trips and have access to a car, you can drive to Chania. Crete has a well-developed road network, and you can reach Chania by taking the National Road from Heraklion or other parts of the island. The journey offers beautiful views of the Cretan landscape.
